Mr. Felix Abrahams Obi started his early career as a clinical physiotherapist and worked in a variety of clinical settings in Nigeria before he veered into public health and development. He obtained his BSc (Physiotherapy) from Bayero University Kano, a Master of Health Planning and Management from the University of Benin and holds an MSc in Psychology and Health from University of Nottingham, United Kingdom, focusing on socio-behavioral and policy aspects of public health and wellbeing. Between 2005 and 2010, he served as the Health Adviser and Gender Focal Person with the Nigeria Country Office of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and participated in the implementation of Polio Immunization, HIV/AIDS, Malaria, TB, hospital management/quality improvement, and other public health programmes in Nigeria. He has provided technical consultancy services to the Federal Ministry of Health, International Development Agencies, NGOs and Foundations to support the inception, design and evaluation of public health interventions in Nigeria. He also served as the Abuja Liaison and Research Uptake Officer for the Health Policy Research Group, under the Resilient and Responsive Health Systems (RESYST) multi-country research project that focused on health governance and health financing.

Felix currently works as Senior Program Officer cum Healthcare Financing Engagement Officer with Results for Development Institute (R4D); a US-based non-profit organization that is providing healthcare financing technical assistance to the Government of Nigeria for the roll-out of the Basic Health Care Provision Fund and the design and establishment of Social Health Insurance Schemes in some states in Nigeria. He has over 15 years work experience in translation and use of research evidence to inform health policies and programmes. His research interests include health systems, policy analysis, healthcare management, health financing, global health and development, as well as prevention and control of non-communicable diseases, health promotion and wellness, health behaviour change management, etc. He belongs to several professional bodies and serves as a member of the management team of African Health Economics and Policy Association (AfHEA) and West African Network of Emerging Leaders (WANEL) in health policy and systems. He co-edits the Nigeria edition of Africa Health Journal, blogs for Conversation Africa and other platforms. In his spare time, he writes poems, short stories, and articles, and loves telling stories through documentary photography and is an avid hiker.
