Chair of WANEL Thematic Working Group (TWG) on Supporting Health System Strengthening Initiative

Dr. Juliana belongs to the WANEL TWG, supporting health system strengthening initiatives. In the region, it serves as a platform for research and knowledge exchange within WANEL. The aim of this group is to stay abreast with current research and initiatives in the region and serve as experts to generate knowledge and support policy making. To date, the TWG hosted a research activity jointly held with IPAR (Senegal) by undertaking two country case study on health-related SDG measurement (Burkina Faso and Ghana). The TWG ambitions in the long run is to develop strong partnerships with governments, donor, implementing agencies and academia working in health systems strengthening.

She is an economist who decided to specialize in health and public sector. She holds a PhD in Economics and a DEA in human resources economics (Master’s Equivalent). Her research interest spans through public finance, child labor, health systems strengthening, fiscal space for health, financial protection and universal health coverage. With her keen eye to details, she is highly skilled in data analyses and visualization, with experience in qualitative research as well. She is fully bilingual (English and French) with knowledge of Spanish. Juliana is among the founding members of WANEL. She currently works as an independent researcher and consultant.
