Dr. Kadidiatou Kadio, Ph.D. M.A.ps, MS, PhD

Dr. Kadidiatou Kadio is a research fellow at the Institut de Recherche en Science de la Santé (IRSS) of the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique et Technologique (CNRST), Burkina Faso. Kadidiatou holds a PhD in Applied Sciences from the University of Montreal in 2019. She also has a master’s degree in Population and Health (2007) and a Master’s degree in Social Psychology (2004) from the University of Ouagadougou. In addition, she has a Certificate in Health Policy Analysis from the Institute of Tropical Medicine in Antwerp (2011) and a Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS) in Health Discrimination and Human Rights, University of Geneva (2010).

Her research interests include social protection issues, health policy and systems analysis, inequalities and social exclusion, access to health care for populations, equity, empowerment, knowledge sharing and application. Her doctoral thesis focused on the analysis of the emergence, formulation and implementation of public social protection policies in Burkina Faso, as well as the role of scientific knowledge in these processes.

Kadidiatou’s thesis was awarded a distinction on the Dean’s honour List at the Faculty of Arts and Sciences of the University of Montreal and was proposed to represent the university in national and international thesis competitions. As a researcher in human and social sciences, Kadidiatou has opted for a mixed methodology, i.e., the complementarity of analytical approaches. Thus, her work is based on the principle of interdisciplinarity in social science, drawing on several approaches (theoretical, epistemological).

Dr. Kadidiatou was nominated for the Emerging Voices for Global Health (EV4GH) award in 2012 and was included in the list of 204 women who speak and work in French in global health (Women in Global Health francophone list) in 2018. Dr. Kadidiatou Kadio also has extensive management background in international and community development (Programme implementation and development project), as well as programme coordination in social policy research and public health. She is also an associate researcher with RENARD Team, University of Montreal.
